On 16 October 2014 the Queensland Government approved the Queensland Building and Construction Commission and Other Legislation Bill 2014 (Bill). The Bill will repeal the Domestic Building Contracts Act 2000 (Qld) (DBC Act) and replace it with new provisions in the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1994 (Qld) (QBCC Act) that will regulate the contractual requirements for domestic building work in Queensland. The reforms are similar to the system currently in place in New South Wales. The commencement date has not been proclaimed.
