Aleisha MacKenzie, Legal Practice Director and Founder of Construct Law Group, said she was incredibly proud of the firm to being recognised and to be named as a finalist in the Women in Law Awards 2024 in this category.
Aleisha, says, “A career in law is both deeply rewarding and challenging, especially for women who have historically encountered many obstacles. To be recognised alongside other finalists who are committed to fostering safe, inclusive, and diverse workplaces, and supporting the retention of women in the legal field, is a true honour.”
As a female lead and founded law firm, since its inception 10 years ago, having a diverse and inclusive culture has been central to the firms values.
Aleisha says: “When I founded Construct Law Group 10 years ago, I was a mother of 3-year-old twin girls and 3 school aged step-children. Being able to work flexibly while provide high quality legal services to our clients in a professional and ethical way were high priorities to me. With the support of my husband and family, I was able to build a firm where we were able to do just that, provide exceptional legal services to the construction industry while also being present in our children’s life. For the majority of this journey, I have had the pleasure of working with 3 other incredible working mums (Kirsty, Crystal and Leonie) along with Craig (my husband), who have equally championed flexible work practices and diversity.
I am so proud of this recognition for our team. While there is always more that can be done, knowing that our small workplace has contributed to the retention of women in law is both a honour and a highlight of my career.”
